  1. Expands the prescribing authority of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), including Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), without physician oversight.

Rep. Hilbert has introduced a similar bill, HB 2298 (2025), but has key differences:

    • SB 569 requires three years of supervised practice for prescribing rights, while HB 2298 sets it at 6,240 hours (about three years).
    • HB 2298 allows experienced APRNs to supervise others working toward prescribing ability.
    • SB 569 adds advertising rules for APRNs.
    • HB 2298 limits how much physicians can charge to supervise APRNs.

Similar to Sen. Stanley’s SB 458 (2023), which was vetoed by the Governor during the 2024 session.
